Frequently Asked STD Questions

If you have any additional questions that are not addressed in this FAQ section, you can reach us at 1-888-211-2365. Our care counselors are always available to help answer any questions you may have regarding your testing, your treatment options, and your health.

Do you take walk-ins?

To get same day STD testing, you will need to purchase a lab order either online from our website or over the phone with one of our care counselors. Once your order has been placed, you can get tested immediately at any one of our local and discreet collection facilities. No other patients at the testing center will know your reason for visiting other than to give a routine urine and blood sample.

How do I get my test results?

Your STD test results are accessible through a secure login unique to your order, updated 24 hours a day. Alternatively, our care counselors are available to discuss your results over the phone as well as provide treatment options available through our service. You will never be contacted directly, and nothing will ever be sent to your home. All test results are expedited as a rush order and will typically be available just 24-72 hours after visiting the collection facility.

Are my results confidential?

Our process is 100% confidential and HIPAA compliant. This means that your your lab order and results will never be disclosed to your healthcare provider to ensure nothing is put on your permanent medical record. Your privacy is important, which is why we will never discuss your results with anyone other than yourself. All personally identifiable information is kept secure and encrypted while ordering your test and getting your results. We are in compliance with all state and federal regulations governing the reporting of positive test results to ensure you are not contacted in the event of a reactive test.

Do you offer treatment?

Yes. We offer elective treatment to patients who test positive for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, or Trichomoniasis. If you receive a positive result, simply call and speak with a care counselor to schedule a phone consult with a physician. In almost all cases, medication will be available the same day. We are partnered with physicians at PWNHealth so treatment can be prescribed if appropriate in all states. The physician consult fee is $65.

What does the charge show up as on my bank statement?

Your privacy is our utmost concern.  We understand the sensitive nature of testing, therefore our company name or anything related to STD testing will not be displayed on your statement.  Our service shows up as a one time payment to “SFHT” and will not be identifiable to your order. If you prefer even more privacy, internet activated gift cards can be used as well.

Do I need an appointment after ordering?

No appointments are required at the collection facility after you have ordered your test. Once your order is placed, you can go immediately into the testing site. There is no set appointment time, and your requisition is good for 90 days. Testing typically takes no more than 15-30 minutes after arriving.

What can I expect when I get to the collection site?

We understand that STD testing can be an embarrassing experience which is why we utilize Quest Diagnostics exclusively to draw samples for our service. This means you will never be singled out for getting tested, and nobody in the lobby will know your reason for visiting. You will never be sent to a public clinic or health department.

Can I switch testing sites?

Even after you have selected a testing site, you can choose to switch locations without any further action necessary. As long as the new location selected is within the same state as the initial lab order, you can attend any collection site with the same testing information in your confirmation email.

Is a swab required for testing?

Patients commonly ask if swabs are required for testing. Swab testing is not only uncomfortable, but also can be embarrassing. Our tests do not require a swab or any other type of visual examination. All that is needed is a simple urine and blood sample.

How accurate are my test results?

All of the tests we offer are FDA approved, therefore we guarantee the accuracy of our results. Certain STDs require that you wait a period of time after sexual contact before getting tested. Each disease has a different latency period, so understanding when to test is important. If you have questions, feel free to call a care counselor and we will be happy to walk you through the process.

Do I need to fast before getting tested?

No. The types of tests used look for antibodies and bacteria. There is never a need to fast before getting tested. We do recommend waiting approximately one hour before submitting a urine sample for highest accuracy.

Do you accept insurance?

To use your health insurance, we are able to provide all of the necessary information to file a self-claim. We utilize Quest Diagnostics which is the largest lab network in the nation, therefore most healthcare providers will offer some form of reimbursement. We will never directly bill your insurance to ensure your results are completely private and kept off of your permanent health record.

How do I go about setting up a test?

To get tested, you can order directly off of our website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our care counselors can be reached by phone as well, and are ready to answer any questions regarding the testing process, our service, and ordering.

Are tests ordered by a physician?

Yes. Priority STD Testing and PWNHealth are partnered to provide lab orders authorized by physicians in 48 states. PWNHealth is our treatment partner for positive patients as well. Your information and test request will be evaluated and if appropriate, approved by a physician. This process takes place immediately when your order is placed, so you will never have to wait to get tested. Patients wishing to be tested in NJ or RI must call and speak with a care counselor.

How do I know what type of test I should take?

If at any point you need assistance, call us at 1-888-211-2365 and one of our care counselors will assist you with any questions you may have regarding your testing options. We offer both customized tests and comprehensive panels to fit your testing needs.
