Alameda, Califormia, has seen an increase in sexually transmitted diseases in recent years. The growing infection rates in the community have become a pressing concern for the CDC. In response to this health crisis, Alameda County and the CDC have taken measures to prioritize and promote STD testing as a critical factor in combating the spread of infections and maintaining public health.

Data from the Alameda County Health Department highlight the importance of early detection and treatment for STDs. In 2021, Alameda County reported 15,370 cases of chlamydia, 5,061 cases of gonorrhea, and 223 cases of primary and secondary syphilis. These numbers demonstrate the necessity for effective and consistent STD testing to prevent further transmission.
